This may come as a shock, but it appears as our new Attorney General, the notoriously bigoted Jefferson Beauregard Sessions, lied during his confirmation hearings. The Washington Post reported yesterday that Sessions spoke twice with Russian officials during the campaign. Sessions, of course was a part of the Trump campaign and is now in a position to lead any Justice Department investigation into the contacts between the campaign and Russia.

During the confirmation hearings, Sessions denied that he had any contact with any Russian officials during the campaign. According to the Washington Post, this is a lie. Sessions did, in fact, have contact with Russian officials in his capacity as campaign surrogate.

What does this mean? It means that he should, at the very least, recuse himself from any investigations into the Trump campaign. Even Senate Republicans are in agreement. South Carolina senator and aging southern belle Lindsey Graham echoed this sentiment. He said that if these allegations were true that Sessions would have to recuse himself.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi took things a step further. She called for Sessions to resign. Is she correct? If he lied under oath during his confirmation hearing, then he should resign. Will he? It’s doubtful?

This story is just getting started. Over the next few days, more will come out about this. Call and write your representatives. Demand that Sessions be held accocuntable!
